	Adriaan van den Berk attended the Academy of Arts 'Artibus' in Utrecht, Holland and graduated in enamelling technique. Ever since he works as an independent artist from his houseboatstudio on the river Vecht in Maarssen. Personal experience, objective observations, associations and the appeal of the expressive possibilities of the material, are the main sources of his work. An inquisitive attitude, a great sensitivity to materials and craftmanship have resulted in a varied oeuvre. All expressive materials are useful to Adriaan van den Berk. Besides imaginative quality and technical perfection, the work has an emotional intensity and is compellingly present.
The artist want to put qualities like strenght, brightness and honesty into his work. The objects and tableaus reflect a rich medley of form, colour and material and are not bound to one style. The work is not solitary, but is connected with craft, science, architecture and religion. Work has been bought by governmental organisations and businesses, Enamelmuseum Himmerod, Grosslittgen, Germany, the museum of modern Enamelart at Salou, Spain, Fundacion Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain, the cathedral, Utrecht and can be found at home an abroad in private collections.
